A Competent Person completed a gratis Test and Tag service for his son's playgroup premises as the playgroup was a not-for-profit organisation and relied upon volunteers.
It had been arranged that any failed appliances would be appropriately tagged
as Dangerous and locked in the co-ordinator's office until later placed out for council hard rubbish collection.
Once the goods were placed out for council collection, still appropriately tagged, a mother picking up her child decided that one of the appliances could be taken home to use in the garage.
Since this incident, it is recommended that in the case of equipment to be disposed of, the entire plug and cord be removed.
